Facilitate and coordinate dialogue, political management and decision-making on the conservation of sea turtles at the international level with government entities in the environmental and fisheries sector of 16 countries of the Americas. Follow-up on the fulfillment of the objectives of the IAC by its member countries. Communicate information and recommendations on sea turtle management given by the scientific community to decision-makers to guide the implementation of actions for the benefit of sea turtles.

The Eastern Pacific Leatherback Turtle Conservation Network started in 2012 when over thirty researchers, NGOs, and regional experts came together to develop an action plan to stabilize and restore the leatherback turtle population in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
