Over 20 years of experience in leatherback turtle conservation. Member of the Marine Turtle Specialist Group since 2005. President of the International Sea Turtle Society in 2012. The Main Researcher of the Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge at St. Croix, USVI from 1998 to 2000. Field Coordinator at Kutzari AC on the Cahuitan beach in Oaxaca from 2000 to 2008. Deputy Director of Marine Species for the Directorate of Priority Species for Conservation, CONANP, Mexico, from 2008 to 2015.

The Eastern Pacific Leatherback Turtle Conservation Network started in 2012 when over thirty researchers, NGOs, and regional experts came together to develop an action plan to stabilize and restore the leatherback turtle population in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
