I have been involved in sea turtle conservation since 1994, starting my career working for the conservation of loggerhead turtles in Greece. After several years in charge of ARCHELON’s conservation projects in Greece, I left for the United States where I received my Ph.D. in Environmental Science under Dr. James R. Spotila in 2015. I started my involvement with The Leatherback Trust as Conservation Scientist in 2016. Since 2021, I have returned to Greece which is now my main base. My fields of expertise include behavioral studies of turtles, interactions between turtles and fisheries (with emphasis on small-scale), and social issues. In addition, I am heavily involved in management and applied conservation. One of the major milestones in my career is writing the National Action Plan for Turtles in Greece, adopted by the Greek Government in 2021. In addition, I have active involvement in the implementation of management policies within important areas for marine turtles. I have been an MTSG member since 2015 and for the last 6 years serve as regional Covice-chair for the Mediterranean.
